[Also in Group XXXVII] An electric control arrangement for electric motors M 1 -M 6 comprises a main transformer P H , S H and an auxiliary transformer P z , S z , connectible in bucking or boosting relationship, the two secondary windings S H , S z being connected in series to feed the motors and the auxiliary primary winding P z being fed with a variable voltage from tappings on the main primary winding by a tapchanging switch St. One end of the primary winding P z is connected to the tap-changing switch St, and the other end is connected to the movable contact of a change-over switch WS whose fixed contacts are connected to the two ends of the main primary winding. On moving the rotatable tapchanging switch from the position shown (maximum buck) the bucking voltage is gradually reduced until at position 15 the winding P z is short-circuited. At this stage the switch WS is changed over and on moving to position 1 again a small boosting voltage is applied, this being increased to a maximum on moving through the tappings. In a more detailed disclosure (Fig. 2, not shown) the linked mechanism of the switch arrangement is shown and this includes a diverter switch. In a modification, different tappings are used for bucking and boosting.
