[Also in Group X] A drainage well for bathroom or like floors has a grating, a non-perforated plate or a screen as well cover carried by one or more supporting members constructed and dimensioned to form between it or them and the inner side of the well wall 11, around the well an intervening space in which is clamped and compressed by wedging action the waterproof covering on the floor. In the form shown the well has a grating 8 on a rigid or expandable packing ring 7 resting on a ring 6 or projections, the well wall 11 leading into a flange 14 over which is a floor covering 10 having a thickened edge engaging in a groove 12, as shown, around the well. The ring 7 may have lateral apertures bordering on mortar on which tiles are laid, the ring then having a shoulder, level with the tiles, on which rests the grating 8. In a modification a plate is fixed on a number of vertical bars resting on the ring 6 or on projections on the inner side of the wall 11. At the inlet opening 2 of the well is a shield 30 which deflects incoming water towards the well bottom The discharge pipe 4 can have a pocket 32 to prevent backflow. In one arrangement the well is on or in the vicinity of the line joining the outlet of a bath-tub and the main drainage pipe and is wholly or partly below a washstand basin, the tub, the basin, and any other desirable installation having water outlets, e.g. a washing machine, being connected to the side of the drainage well.
