[Also in Group XXXIV] The fluid-pressure damper according to the parent Specification is modified by arranging that the right-hand end of the sleeve 24 carries a differential-diameter annular piston 26, the sleeve and piston being formed with radial ports 35, 30 which are normally in alignment to permit free flow of fluid to the control device 64 and brakes 51 upon initial movement of brake control 60. As the pressure builds up in the system, piston 26 is moved to the left against a spring 31 until at the predetermined pressure ports 35, 30 are completely cut off, after which flow can only take place through the restriction formed by that portion of groove 22 disposed within sleeve 24, as determined by movement of plunger 21 in accordance with pressure variations in the system. A relief valve 37 permits outward flow through sleeve 24 and an atmospheric vent 27 is provided at the step junction of piston 26. Specifications 676,708 and 687,358 are referred to.
