Abstract

874,811. Lamp caps and holders. CROMPTON PARKINSON Ltd. March 17, 1960 [March 17, 1959], No. 9242/59. Class 38 (1). A lamp-holder for a fluorescent tubular lamp having a bi-pin cap is provided with contact holes each of which is situated approximately at the centre of a D-shaped recess 5 which increases in depth from the edge to a maximum at the contact hole. The two recesses are separated by a diametrical ridge 6. When the pins 3 of a lamp are moved against the end face of the lamp-holder they will normally be out of register with the holes 4 and will engage the surface of the recesses 5. A turning action is thus produced on the lamp and the pins are brought into correct location preparatory to being pushed home. The main housing 11 of the holder carries a sliding part 12 having lugs 16 which engage in slots 17. Outward movement of the part 12 is limited by engagement of the lugs with a wire ring 18.
