Abstract
874,525. Prepayment mechanisms. BRADDOCK & CO. Ltd., THOMAS. March 2, 1960 [April 10, 1959], No. 12149/59. Addition to 806,981. Class 27 A coin-freed prepayment mechanism for rendering available an article or a quantity of gas or electricity comprises a slot or slots for receiving either of two coins of different diameters, a rotable coin slot closing disc or coin injector o having a projection h, a rotary coin pocket member c pivotally carrying a coin striker b which serves to operate, through a pin m, a quantity-wheel striker plate d also pivotally carried by the coin pocket member c, and a spring-urged latch member g, pivotally carried on the base f of the coin pocket member, adapted to be operated by a fixed projection y to engage and lock the quantity-wheel striker plate d to the coin pocket member c until ejection of the coin has occurred. As described an inserted shilling or half-crown strikes the coin striker b which moves the pin m to a predetermined position in a slot in the striker plate dcausing it to engage a quantity wheel in the manner described in the parent Specification. The projection h, on rotation of the disk o, abuts a projection e on the base f so moving the coin pocket member c, striker plate d and the quantity wheel. The latch member g is actuated by the projection y to lock the striker plate d to the coin pocket c during ejection of the coin and to release the plate d when it passes beyond the projection y.
