Means to control the speed and direction of water craft propelled by the ejection of a jet of fluid comprise curved rudder members 3 and 4 which are disposed one each side of the jet path and pivotally supported by stock posts 5 and 6 so that their rear ends can be moved closer to one another, to offer greater resistance to the water and spill out part of the jet stream, for speed control (in the ultimate closed position the whole of the jet stream is directed forward to reverse the water craft) and in the same directional sense for steering. Both movements are effected by a suitable linkage and may be carried out simultaneously.
