Abstract
869,055. Luminescent materials. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Aug. 25, 1959 [Sept. 4, 1958], No. 29095/59. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XXIII] A scintillator is formed from a silica base glass containing cerium oxide, preferably not exceeding 3 % in content and in an intermediate state of oxidation. The silica base glass may be in the form of a porous body made by the leaching process described in Specifications 442,526 and 533,053 which is then impregnated with a cerium salt solution and then heated. Alternatively the cerium oxide may be incorporated in the glass batch prior to melting. Specification 858,997 also is referred to.
