Abstract

864,005. Current collectors. ETABLISSEMENTS L. FAIVELEY. Dec. 16, 1958 [Jan. 9, 1958], No. 40496/58. Class 104 (3). In a current-collecting apparatus comprising a control motor for the displacement of the supporting device of the current collector and springs for applying the current collector against the trolley wire, adjustment is provided for varying the tension of the springs for a level of the overhead current collector predetermined by the elevation of the overhead wire. In the arrangement shown, a shoe 2 supported on a cranked arm 10, pivoted at 8 to a rod 3 fixed to a shaft 4 rotatable in a frame 5 fixed by means of insulator 6 to a vehicle roof 7, and pivoted at 13 to a rod 11 pivoted at 12 on the frame 5, is held against an overhead trolley wire 1 by a rod 16. Springs 34, 35, which vary the pressure of the shoe against the wire 1, are attached at one end to cranks 32, 33, keyed to the shaft 4 and at the other end are fixed to a centrally-pivoted bar 40 attached to a rod 41. The rod 41 is connected at 42, Fig. 3, to one end of a lever 43 pivoted at 44 to the frame 5 and operatively connected at the other end 45 to a rod 46 in which is interposed an insulator 47. The rod 46 is acted on by piston 48 operating in a cylinder 49 fed with compressed air through an aperture 50. The lever 43 can take up two positions determined by stops 61, 62 or 63, 64. The rod 16, which raises or lowers the shoe 2 depending on the height of the wire 1, is articulated at one end, by means of a bolt 17 sliding in a slot 18, to a crank 15 keyed to the shaft 4.
