A seat convertible into an ironing board has a top b<SP>2</SP> carried by a horizontal frame b integral with a vertical frame c carrying the seat back c<SP>1</SP> and ironing board d. Pivots b<SP>1</SP> connecting the forward end of the frame b to a sub frame a enable the ironing board to be swung into a horizontal position in which it is held by a twopart centrally hinged, folding stay e. A frame carrying steps f, f<SP>1</SP> may be pivoted to the legs of the sub frame so that the steps may be swung inwardly when out of use.
