858,891. Joint-making packing. McKEE, J. R. July 7, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 23357/59. Class 122 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A composite sealing-washer comprises a deformable backing-member 18 the opposite sides 8, 11 of which diverge outwardly and downwardly from a central opening 9 having walls 10 normal to said sides, and a sealing-member 19 adhered thereto with a concentric opening 15, the backing-member having a peripheral flange 12. Said flange has a sharp edge which, in use, abuts a workpiece to prevent outward squeezing of member 19. As clamping of the nut &c. proceeds, the backing-member is flattened and member 19 squeezed to seal against the boltthreads.
