Abstract
844,167. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. April 2, 1958 [April 2, 1957], No. 10805/57. Class 39(4). The sheath of a fuel element rod consists of a smooth stainless steel tube wound with zirconium wire, closely pitched, to break-up the laminar boundary layer of coolant fluid flowing axially along the tube surface. Alternatively, a carbon filament is extruded on to the surface of a cylindrical graphite tube and the filament graphitised in position.
