Abstract

834,850. Reinforced paper. MOSINEE PAPER MILLS CO. Sept. 23, 1957 [Dec. 31, 1956], No. 29850/57. Class 96. Paper 11, preferably of kraft fibres which may be coloured and may be sized with 1% of a wetstrength resin, is reinforced by embedding therein a leno-woven scrim fabric 12, Fig. 1 (not shown), e.g. of nylon, rayon, acetate rayon, polyester, or polyvinylidene chloride, or of cotton, e.g. of 50 to 2000 denier yarns 14, 16 and of “ inch square mesh. The yarns may be coated with butadiene-acrylonitrile, butadiene-styrene, polyisobutene, polychloroprene, or polyvinyl acetate at 18, 19, to bond the yarns together and to adjacent paper fibres. The scrim may be supplied continuously to the flow-box of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine and pass out with the pulp through the slice.
