[Also in Groups XVIII, XXXVII and XL (c)] In a recording device for producing a record, e.g. of the stations to which a radio receiver 10 is tuned, with respect to time on a record element, e.g. a film 36, synchronous electrical means are provided for placing periodic time marks 76, Fig. 6, on the film and a mechanical clock 19 places additional time marks 75 on the film whereby the synchronous means provides a check on the mechanical clock so that during periods of electrical power breakdowns a correction based on the check during non- breakdown periods permits accurate time determination for time both before and after the power breakdown period. A receiver attachment 15 generates electrical signals in accordance with the receiver tuning imparted to it by mechanical means 22, 24 and these are coded into a binary code by a commutator switch 18, rotated once a minute by a motor 57 and control the pulsation of a lamp 50 directed on the film through a lens system and a slotted screen 56 also rotated once a minute by the motor 57. The impulses giving the time markings 75 are derived from switches 66, 67, 68 controlled respectively by gears of the mechanical clock rotating once per hour, once per day and once per week, the switches being set to give a short impulse at a certain time each day except once a week when, for identifying the period, the switch 68 opens and no impulse is recorded for forty-eight hours. A further motor 62 may keep the clock spring 61 fully wound and means (see Group XVIII) may also be provided for regulating the clock from the motor 62. In the embodiment shown, however, the clock is wound e.g. once per hour when current is supplied to the motor 62 by a switch 41 operated hourly by a cam 43 on the drive of a motor 38 also driving the film 36.
