Abstract
802,641. Batteries. O'SHEI, W. E. March 25, 1957 [March 24, 1956], No. 9245/56. Class 53. The plates 10 of an accumulator are spaced apart by the lead-in wires 1, 11 which are covered by moulded plastic sleeves 2, 2<SP>1</SP>. To increase the length of the leakage path for acid which may creep along the wires the latter are formed along their whole length with a number of annular grooves 4. The sleeves are interconnected by a plate 3 which is moulded round the wires 1, 1<SP>1</SP> and integrally moulded with the sleeves which pass through openings 6, 6<SP>1</SP> in the top of the accumulator. The plate 3 is heatsealed in the recess 7 and the lower ends of the wires pass through openings in a bottom plate 8 and are soldered to the plate lugs 11. After the introduction of the electrolyte the cell is closed by a plastic plate 15. The upper ends of the wires 1, 1<SP>1</SP> are soldered to terminals 13 which are held in position by pegs 14 moulded with the casing and passing through holes in the terminals.
