Class 120(2) A yarn tension regulator adapted to be mounted within a textile twisting machine spindle comprises co-operating fixed and movable yarn engaging members, a part adapted to be movably mounted on the exposed end of the spindle, and means movable with the said part to engage and separate the movable yarn engaging member from the fixed member to facilitate threading up and means adapted to return the said part to a position such that the movable means is disengaged from the movable yarn engaging member. In the arrangement shown 16 is the stationary member and 18 is the movable yarn engaging member. The member 18 is carried on an arm 25 pivoted on knife edges at 31 and acted upon by a spring 19, the force exerted by which can be varied by means of the screwed collar 20. Mounted above the tensioning members is a yarn guide cap 35 pivoted on knife edges (only one of which 42 is shown). A support member 41 is secured to the underside of the cap and suspended therefrom is a lever arm 46 having the general shape of a U and a laterally extending section 47 which engages the inner wall of the member 11. The section 47 is normally held in contact with the member 11 by a spring 49 such that a cross bar 48 thereon is out of contact with the arm 25. When threading up is required the cap 35 is pivoted about its knife edges so that the cross member 48 engages the arm 25 thereby moving member 18 out of engagement with the member 16.
