Abstract
796,595. Latches. AVERY & CO. (EST. 1834), Ltd, J., and GIRLING. A. H. G. Feb. 27. 1956 [Dec. 13, 1954], No. 35953/54. Class 44 [Also in Groups X and XXXIV] A latching arrangement for a folding door (see Group X) comprises a vertically movable locking bar 33 which is accommodated within a casing 32 on the outer face of a batten 31 attached the leading edge of the door and which, during the final closing movement of the door, is lifted as its lower end traverses a ramp 351 an a locking member 35 fixed to an opposite door jamb 301, and then drops into a groove 352 in the locking member at the same time as an eye in the upper end of the bar engages behind a detent on a hook 34 secured to the jamb 301. The locking bar is displaceable by handles 362 fixed to a spindle 36 which is mounted in bearings in the batten 31 and carries arms 361 having slots which engage projections 332 on the locking bar.
