Abstract

A composite web, consisting of two or more ribbons of resinous resistive material which may contain carbon, is formed by simultaneous extrusion of resin mixes having different electrical characteristics. The web is taken from the die on a moving belt and passed through an oven for initial curing and then strips are cut off to form resistors. The resistance of the strips may be measured and the width of subsequent strips adjusted automatically to give the desired value and the strips may then be finally cured. By adjusting the ingredients of the resin mix the strips may be bent into arcuate shape suitable for use in variable resistors.
