Abstract

The invention comprises 3-hydrazino-pyridazine-6-carboxylic acid hydrazide and acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by condensing hydrazine with a 3-halogenopyridazine 6-carboxylic acid suitably by refluxing the reagents in a solvent, and if desired converting the product into an acid addition salt. The 3-halogenopyridazine-6-carboxylic acid is conveniently prepared by treating the corresponding pyridazone with a phosphorus oxyhalide, the carboxy group being preferably blocked in the form of an ester derivative. In examples 3-pyridazone 6-carboxylic acid is esterified with ethyl alcohol and the ethyl-3-pyridazone-6-carboxylate is refluxed with phosphorus oxychloride to give 3-chloro-pyridazine-6-carboxylic acid which is reacted with hydrazine hydrate to give 3 - hydrazino - pyridazine - 6 - carboxylic acid hydrazide and its dihydrochloride.
