785.584. Cooling or heating materials. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. April 12, 1956 [May 6, 1955], No. 11093/56. Class 29 and 64(2) Cooling or heating apparatus for goods such as plastic, fluid or other substances, in which the goods are conveyed on a belt 12 over a longitudinal tank or tanks 11, filled with cooling or heating liquid under pressure and in contact with the underside of the belt, as described in Specification .570,827, is characterized in that the conveyer belt rests on supporting means, e.g. rollers 13, located within the tank and that flexible resistant strips 15 are provided adjacent the longitudinal edges of the tank to co-operate with the underside of the belt while permitting lateral discharge of the cooling or heating liquid between the belt and the strips. The strips are preferably clamped to the sides 14 of the tank, may be used at the ends of tank, and are of rubber or thin steel. The cooling or heating liquid is agitated to turbulence by directing the incoming jets of water against the end or bottom of the tank, thus giving an even transfer of heat between the liquid and the belt.
