Abstract
783,811. Dry shavers. SCHREYER, E. P. May 31, 1955 [Sept. 1, 1954], No. 15600/55. Class 131. An electric dry shaver comprises cutting means protruding from one end of a casing and surrounded by a guard, the closeness of the cut depending on the projection of the cutting means beyond the guard which is varied by stop means locating the guard. The cutting head is preferably of the kind disclosed in Specification 698 746, consisting of stationary blades 19 and movable blades 17<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>2</SP> directly engaging the skin. A guard frame F has face-contacting rollers 20 and four assymetrically arranged pins 22 which, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, engage depressions 23 in the casing 15 so that the cutting means project to a maximum extent from the guard to permit a close shave. The guard is latched to the cutter holder 18 by spring-urged balls 25 and when reversed end-to-end (see Fig. 4), the pins and de pressions do not register, the hairs being cut at a short distance from the skin because of the shrouding effect of the guard frame. In a modification the guard frame has downwardly projecting lugs which do not engage assymetrically arranged notches in the cutter-holder when the guard frame is reversed end-to-end, the guard frame having latch members one of which engages with a latch member on the cutter holder in each position of the guard frame.
