770,975. Assembling force fits. AKTIEBOLAGET SCANIA-VABIS. June 15, 1955 [July 3, 1954], No. 17285/55. Class 83 (4). A tool for mounting anti-friction bearings adapted to drive the outer race and the inner race simultaneously into the bearing body and on to the bearing seat comprises two members or two sets of members axially displaceable relative to one another and adapted to act upon the outer and inner race respectively and means for apportioning the force exerted on the tool to said two members or sets of members. The tool body 1 has a bore 2 for accommodating an outer annular piston 3 which surrounds an inner annular piston 4 guided by a central tube 5 secured in the body 1. Flanges 15 and 16 on the tube 5 and piston 3 respectively prevent the pistons from sliding out of the bore 2. The space between the pistons and the body 1 is filled with oil through a nipple 6, the air being released through a vent screw 11. During the mounting of a bearing 7 between a bearing body 8 and a shaft 9 the outer piston may be displaced relative to the inner piston but the ratio of the forces acting upon the pistons and determined by the piston areas is maintained constant.
