Abstract
761,056. Aerials. TELERECTION, Ltd. July 15, 1954 [April 15, 1953], No. 10269/53. Class 40(7) A directional aerial of the type comprising dipole elements 16, 17 and director elements 21, 22 mounted at respective ends of as hort cross arm 10 is characterized in that the elements are symmetrically inclined to the cross arm at an angle between 100 degrees and 130 degrees. The length of the cross arm 10 is preferably 1/6.7 of the length of a dipole element and the angle between each aerial element and the cross arm is preferably 118 degrees. A Y-shaped metal bracket 18 serves to secure the parasitic elements 21 and 22 and also to connect them together electrically. The dipole elements 16, 17 are secured in a shaped plastic moulding (Fig. 3), having a spigot 23 which fits snugly into one end of the cross arm 10 and is retained by a diametral bolt 24. The arms 14, 15 of the mouldings have ribs 25 to improve their insulating properties and each is formed with a bore into which the corresponding dipole element 16 or 17 is a close fit. Metal connector members 27 and 28 are embedded in the moulding and carry screw-threaded spigots 29, 30 on to which the tubular elements 16, 17 are adapted to be screwed. The members 27, 28 extend side by side through the stem 23 and their inward extremities are drilled at 31, 32 and provided with terminal screws 33, 34 for making connections to the feeder (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 730,398.
