Abstract

757,741. V-belts. DAYTON RUBBER CO. Jan. 23, 1954, No. 2092/54. Class 80(1) A belt for engagement with V-pulleys, and at the same time for imparting a drive on to flat pulleys from its top or outer face 14a, Fig. 3, is made of rubber or like substance 10, 12 with re-inforcement 11 and a cover of fabric 13 on its sides and bottom surface only. The top surface 14a is left of the rubber substance and is finished smooth as by grinding. The edges of the top surface are beveled as at 15a. For grinding the top surfaces of the belts they are mounted under tension upon a drum at 48, Fig. 4, on a rotating shaft 32 and engaged by an abrasive wheel 18 which is traversed across the belts.
