755,744. Silos. REIMBERT, A. Jan. 13, 1954 [Aug. 11, 1953], No. 1016/54. Class 20(1). A silo comprises a main container 1 and at least one internal auxiliary compartment 2, or at least one external compartment 2 contiguous with the container 1, each compartment having a maximum horizontal cross section less than the minimum horizontal cross section of the container 1 and being separated therefrom by a vertical or inclined partition 5 having perforations 3, the compartments 2 having outlet means 4, 4a whereby efflux of material from the compartment 2 exposes successively the perforations 3 so that material in the container 1 at the level of the exposed perforation is enabled to flow therethrough to the outlet 4, 4a. The container 1 and compartments 2 may be any crosssectional shape, e.g. circular, and the perforations 3 may be oval, triangular or square. The partitions 5 may be flat or curved, and may extend all or part way down the silo. If the silo has a hopper 6, an unperforated extension of the partition may separate the container 1 from a part 7 of the compartment 2, an outlet 4b serving the container 1.
