Class 27 Coin - freed vending apparatus has one or more columns of articlesupporting platforms 1 pivoted at 2 and each platform is supported in a horizontal position by a trigger 7 engaging in an opening 5 at one side of the platform until the trigger associated with each platform is withdrawn, in succession starting from the bottom of a column, by a pawl 15 pivoted to each trigger at 7c and engageable by abutments 12 on a vertically - slidable rod 11, the rod being raised by a bell-crank lever 32 each time a coin-released push-button 13 or equivalent means is actuated. The pawls 15 of all but the lowest platform are normally held in position 15b free of engagement by the abutments 12 by means of tails 7a on the triggers, but as each trigger is operated it allows the pawl next above to fall to position 15a. The triggers may engage the platforms by gravity or under the action of springs 8. Where there is more than one column, to prevent operation of more than one push-button at a time, a wedge 28 on each button enters between a pair of "scissors" levers 26, 27 and spreads them so that, by means of links 29 to similar levers for the other buttons, the latter levers are moved to positions in which they prevent actuation of the push-buttons. "Empty" indicators; coin slit closing.- When a complete column of articles has been exhausted, a locking pawl 17 prevents further actuation of the rod 11 and the fall of the uppermost platform allows a bent rod 18 to lower an "empty" sign 19 into a position in which it is visible through a window 20. A shaft 22 has arms 21 resting on the uppermost platform of each column and, when all the columns become empty, the last arm 21 is freed and the consequent rotation of the shaft moves a shutter 24 over the coin slit 25.
