754,248. Seat-back cushions. HURLEY, J. J., and HURLEY, A. M. May 17, 1954 [March 26, 1954], No. 8884/54. Class 52(4). In a car seat having a horizontal inflatable cushion at the lumbar region of the back, the height of the area of maximum pressure can be varied. As shown in Fig. 1, three superposed bladders 6 are disposed between a sponge rubber pad 3 and a rigid back plate 4 and are selectively inflatable through valves 7 to give the appropriate height of maximum pressure. Alternatively the bladders may be disposed between the cover 5 and the pad 3. A single bladder may be divided by three horizontal partitions. The bladders may be inflated by a pump, cartridges of compressed gas, the compressed air supply of a garage or the air conditioning system of the car.
