A waste fitting for a bath, wash-basin, sink or like vessel to reduce vortex formation and hence any gurgling noises comprises a disc - like member 10 with apertures 16 for the escape of water and an upstanding pipe 13 through which air can be drawn into the outflow pipe 17. In a modification, a second disc is provided similar to disc 10 and rotatable above it to bring the holes 16 into or out of alignment so that the device can be used as a plug.
