Abstract
747,696. Protective cut-out arrangements. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN, SOC. ANON. Nov. 3, 1953 [Nov. 12, 1952], No. 30368/53. Class 38(5) In an arrangement in which a threephase H.T. cable a, b, c is used to supply a load connected to a control box 33 and has earth and pilot conductors d, e associated with a protective control circuit generally. as described in Specification 649,929, a core-balance transformer 40 energizes a relay 26 through a bridge-rectifier 25 independently of the pilot circuit in the event of a fault causing unbalance. The relay 26 closes contacts 27 to energize a relay 29 from a transformer 5 through a bridgerectifier 28, the relay 29 opening contacts 30 to de-energize a coil 7 to release a main circuit-breaker 6. The transformer 5 also supplies a step-down transformer 12 supplying the protective control circuit. The H.T. cable, Fig. 1 (not shown) may have three phase conductors surrounded by an inner metal sheath acting as the earth conductor and an outer metal sheath serving as the pilot conductor. The cable may be connected to the control box 33 through a transformer 32.
