Abstract
747,054. Jib cranes. FORSLUND, J. E. March 15, 1954, No. 7474/54. Class 78 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] In a ram for luffing a crane jib (not shown), fluid is supplied to the power cylinder 1 through a cylinder 19, annular space 18, ports 13 and annular space 12 so raising the piston 2 until a closure member 21 progressively obstructs ports 13 and space 12. The piston is thus gently brought to rest. When the cylinder 19 is opened to exhaust, fluid is released from cylinder 1 through ducts 22, 23 in member 21 and a ball valve 17; the restricted flow through this valve causing the piston 2 to lower slowly. Piston 2 is operatively connected with the jib through a rod 4 which is pivoted to the jib at one end and at the other rests in a spherical seat 3 in the piston 2.
