Abstract

745,840. Converting; automatic voltage/speed control systems. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. Jan. 19, 1954 [June 26, 1953], No. 17800/53. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVII] In a supply and control system for an electric motor 30 which may be as disclosed in Specification 733,883, a feedback is derived from the output of the inverter to control the D.C. input thereto so as to counteract unwanted changes in the output voltage of the inverter. In one embodiment the feedback derived from the output of an inverter 1, 2, 3 is rectified at 51, amplified at 52 and compared with a control voltage in a comparator 50. The comparison is then fed into the phase circuits 41 which grid control the firing of the thyratron in the supply rectifier 40, thus to control the input to the inverter in the required sense. Where the inverter is fed from D.C. mains the feedback can be made to control a carbon pile regulator or a magnetic amplifier, thus to control the D.C. input to the inverter.
