Abstract
The tops and bottoms of cylindrical containers subjected to internal pressure are manufactured from a high-nitrogen, low-carbon steel and after being stamped out the blanks are subjected to a solution treatment and subsequent precipitation hardening, a marginal zone of each being left blank to enable the blank to be flanged. The steel is rapidly cooled from a temperature close below A1 and temper-hardened at 80-120 DEG C. Electric induction heating is preferably employed.
