Abstract
743,256. Liquid storage tanks. GRAVER TANK & MANUFACTURING CO., Inc. Dec. 12, 1952, No. 31583/52. Class 69 (1). A floating roof for a liquid storage tank (Fig. 1) comprises a single upwardly-outwardly inclined deck 11, a central weight 12, a central drain means 13 for the deck, a hollow pontoon ring structure B annularly secured to the deck and vent means connecting the outer parts of a space below the deck with a space unconfined by the deck. In the form shown, the contour curve of the deck rises steeply at the central portion and flattens out at the periphery where the deck is secured to a cylindrical rim plate 10 (Figs. 2 and 3) which carries the sealing mechanism M. Buoyant hollow box members B are formed around the underside of the deck periphery by the lower extension 15 of the rim plate 10, plates 16, 17 and end plates 18, the spaces between the box members and slots 20 in the extension 15 forming vents for any vapours under the deck. Tie members 19 connect the box members and additional box members may be formed above the periphery of the deck.
