735,478. Poultry-houses. HUGHES, J. G. Feb. 22, 1954 [March 7, 1953], No. 6384/53. Class 5 (2). A device serving as an automatic closure for the entrance or exit of a poultry-house comprises a pivoted platform which is lowered against the action of springs when a bird steps on it and is steadied in its movements by a dash. pot. The device consists of a casing 1 having an upper front opening 5 and a lower rear opening 6. Pivoted at the bottom of the opening 5 is a platform 12 normally supported in horizontal position by adjustable springs 15, a dashpot 17, 19, and wires 21 passing over pulleys 22 and connected to adjustably-weighted levers. A fixed ramp giving access to the opening 5 may be provided, and eyes 28, 29 enable the platform to be retained in lowered position if desired. The top of the device is closed by a frosted glass sheet 3 and frosted and clear glass panels 9, 10 close the rear upper half of the casing.
