733,594. Accelerometers. HOLBOROW, H. L. Aug. 31, 1953, No. 23974/53. Class 106 (3). An acceleration indicator comprises a casing 4, Fig. 1, within which there is a sloping path 7 along which a body 3 is free to move. As described, the device is used for indicating braking efficiency and acceleration and the body 3, e.g. a ball, pellet or globule of mercury, is initially located at the centre-part 2 between the two parts 1a, 1r of the sloping path 7 which is divided into sections of different steepness by landings. The landing on which the body is retained after an acceleration or deceleration is indicative of the value of said acceleration or deceleration. The braking efficiencies corresponding to the landings on the part If may be marked on the casing 4 or given in a table for use therewith. The body 3 may be returned to its initial position by tilting the casing or the casing may have manually operable push-rods at each landing for this purpose.
