In a telephone intercommunication system in which each station a comprises a loud-speaker b, a microphone c and an earphone g, removal of the earphone from a hookswitch f connects a calling station microphone to the loud-speaker of a distant station and completes a reply circuit from the distant microphone to the local earphone. This arrangement is stated to prevent acoustic reaction in the circuit and enables the called station to reply without operating any switches. A selector switch may be included to enable any one of a number of similar stations to be called as required. An isolating switch p preferably operated by a third position of the hook-switch may be included in the microphone circuit.
