Abstract
730,021. Compound fibre-board &c. TEN TEST FIBRE BOARD CO., Ltd., and MITCHELL, D. S. B. May 13, 1953 [May 13, 1952], No. 12117/52. Class 96. [Also in Group X] A partition comprises a plurality of composite panels A, Fig. 3, arranged side-byside with adjacent edges abutting, the panels being provided with aligned transverse channels 4 at right angles to the abutting edges to receive dowels 5 which extend into adjacent panels and assist in holding them together. Each panel consists of two outer layers of hardboard 2, Fig. 1, and two inner layers of fibre board 3, the latter being in strips so that the channels 4 are formed between adjacent strips. The dowels 5 are long timber ones of square cross-section which extend completely through one or more panels and are preferably of different lengths so as to finish in separate panels. A channel 6 is fixed as a base and the bottom of each panel A may have a timber insert to act as a runner. Alternatively the insert is recessed to receive the web of a metal T-section which is fixed as an alternative to the channel. A timber insert may be fixed at the top of each panel A to provide a fixing for a capping member. Alternatively the insert may be omitted and a hole 11 drilled in the fibre board core 3 to receive a fixing device 12 of the type described in Specification 708,946, [Group X]. Building board assemblies as described in Specification 708,746 may be used. In a modification the layers 3 are discontinuous so that the partition is hollow in places.
