Abstract

722,213. Stencils. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 11, 1952 [June 16, 1951], No. 14732/52. Class 100 (2). [Also in Group XL (a)] Multi-dot and multi - line screens for cathode-ray tubes are made by the silk screen process; the different phosphors being applied through a dot or line stencil and a fabric base, and in order to eliminate moirÚ, the lines of the stencil apertures are arranged at an angle for dot screens of from five to ten degrees with the direction of the warp and weft of the fabric and for line screens of from forty-three to forty-five degrees. Each phosphor is applied at least twice to give superimposed layers which eliminate printing defects. Fig. 1 shows a gelatin, lacquer or similar stencil 5 bonded to a "silk" or metal gauze screen 3 in a wooden frame 4, the rows 5a, 5b of the stencil apertures being at an angle of seven degrees to the rows 3a, 3b of the " silk screen. Specification 702,468 is referred to.
