Abstract

720,378. Automatic volume control. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Dec. 20, 1951 [Dec. 29, 1950], No. 29891/51. Class 40 (4). In a multi-channel carrier-current transmission system having an amplifier FS common to all channels, the amplifier output is maintained constant by connecting to all channels not in use the output of a generator G which is controlled by the total power output of the amplifier. The generator output which may be noise or pure sound or a mixture is connected to the input side of filter-modulators S1-S12 by means of relays R1-R12 which may also serve to mark the channels busy and is controlled by a sample of the amplifier output after rectification in L1. Gain control at the receiver is effected by a current tapped off over a filter F and rectified in L2. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 537,893.
