720,209. Wedges. MEIGH CASTINGS, Ltd. April 7, 1953 [April 15, 1952], No. 9354/52. Class 89 (2). A wedge has its operative sides a, Fig. 1, formed as flat plates rigidly interconnected by a web b to form a girder section or by two webs to form a hollow box section. Lightening holes c may be provided in the web or webs. The plates are curved at the striking end of the wedge and terminate in a striking block d. Alternatively a shank e, Fig. 3, may replace block d for receiving blows from mechanical means. The wedge may be made by casting, forging or stamping, or fabricated by welding.
