Abstract

719,836. Mixing appliances. DAELEN, F. L. M. VAN. July 4. 1952 [July 9, 1951], No. 16847/52. Class 86 In a mixing machine for concrete or the like, the component materials are fed in dosed quantities by separate dosage devices to a rotary mixing drum having its wall formed by an endless rubber band 16 which passes around a worm 13, Fig. 1a, fixed to a horizontal spindle 14 and over a stretching roller 17. The worm 13, which defines a helical passage within the drum is reinforced by ribs 15. The spindle 14 is driven by a motor in a box 2. A scraper 18 is arranged at the inside and along the whole width of the band 16. A water supply pipe 19 is mounted beneath the scraper 18 and may extend only on the last part of the mixing drum up to the delivery end. The materials, supplied from hoppers 20, 22, 23 pass through dosage devices mounted beneath the hoppers and fall on to a conveyer band 6 which charges them into the mixing drum. Dosage devices for sand and gravel consists each of a member 34, Fig. 2a, which comprises circular side walls carried on a sleeve freely mounted on a shaft 8, between which side walls, partitions 35 are hinged on pivots 36. A flange 33 is secured to the shaft 8 and the member 34 can be fixed in selected angular position to the flange. The partitions 35 are connected by levers 37 and links 38 to the flange 33 so that angular adjustment of the member 34 with respect to the flange 33 causes the partitions 35 to rotate into different angular positions in which they define spaces of varying volume content, whereby the discharge rate of the device can be regulated. The shafts 8 are driven from the motor in the box 2. The cement dosage device 21, Fig. 3b, beneath the cement hopper 20, is driven by a vertical spindle 4, and consists of a number of partitions 27 rotatably mounted about pins 26 extending radially from a box 25 secured to and rotatably driven by the shaft 4. The pins 26 carry offset lateral pins 28 which engage axial slots in the wall of a cylindrical member 31 which is rotatable with respect to the box 25 whereby to angularly adjust the partitions 27 and thereby alter the dosage rate of the cement.
