Abstract

Sterilized durable medicinal solutions in hermetically sealed vessels, particularly ampoules, are degassed and prepared by applying a vacuum to the solution, subjecting the solution while still under vacuum to oscillations of a frequency between 15 and 60 KHz, so that no chemical reactions take place, saturating the solution with an inert gas such as nitrogen, sealing the vessel or ampoules, and heating the sealed vessels containing the solution to sterilizing temperature. Preferably the solution is repeatedly subjected to vacuum and said oscillations before being sealed in the vessel. The oscillations may be produced by a magnetostrictive transmitter or by a quartz crystal the emitted energy being up to 2 kW, the emitted energy preferably passing through a bath of liquid such as water or kerosene directly on to the vessel which contains the solution to be treated. Examples relate to the degassing of solutions of morphinum hydrochloricum, adrenalin, and vitamin E dissolved in olive oil. After being degassed these solutions can be sterilized at temperatures of 110 to 115 DEG C. during a period of 15 minutes.ALSO:Sterilzed durable medicinal solutions free from dissolved carbon dioxide and oxygen in hermetically sealed vessels, particularly ampoules, are prepared by applying a vacuum to the solution, subjecting the solution while still under vacuum to oscillations of a frequency between 15 and 60 KHz, so that no chemical reactions take place, saturating the solution with an inert gas such as nitrogen, sealing the vessel or ampoules, and heating the sealed vessels containing the solution to sterilizing temperature.
