708,274. Thermal switches. THERMOSET APPLIANCES, Ltd., and DOUCE, N. June 16, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 14187/51. Class 38(5) A thermal interrupter for controlling the temperature of an electric blanket &c. and adapted to be inserted in one or both of the leads leading to the blanket comprises a bimetal strip 13 the free end 15 of which is adapted to actuate a snap-action switch 8, 9 and the other end of which is mounted on a flexible strip 11, a heater winding 17 on the strip 13 and connected in parallel or series with the blanket and a further bimetal strip 14 rigidly secured to the first strip 13 and bearing at its other end on an adjustable abutment 16. The strip 14 serves to compensate for variations of ambient temperature. The snap-action switch 8, 9 may be of the kind described in Specification 633,289, and opens when the strip 13 is heated by the winding 17 thereby breaking the circuit to the blanket and to the heater 17. The knob 18 controlling the screw abutment 16 has a pointer moving over a scale and a click ' device 21. The scale has an 'off ' position at one end and a high temperature position at the other end in which the current is permanently on.
