698,836. Weighing apparatus. BERKEL. AUTO SCALE CO., Ltd. July 9, 1951 [July 8, 1950]. No. 16189/51. Class 143. In a weighing scale the scale pan 13 is mounted on the beam 1 by a bearing 10, 11 arranged eccentrically of the pan, and located between the fulcrum bearing 2, 3, and the bearer 9 which is coupled to the counterbalancing pendulum 19; the bearings 2, 3, 10, 11 being arranged obliquely to counteract the forces due to the eccentric mounting of the pan. The pan leg 12 is pivoted to a link 14 which ensures that the pan remains horizontal, and the beam 1 carries a counterweight 6. In a modification the knife edge bearings 2, 3, 10, 11 are replaced by plates 22, 23, Fig. 3, having knife edges 24, 25.
