Abstract

691,224. Two-part couplings; cables. DARLING, R. E. March 6, 1951 [Jan. 11, 1951], No. 5447/51. Classes 36 and 38 (i). Oxygen breathing hose for aviators consists of resilient material and has plug and socket connector units 8, 9 attached to its' ends, the hose having conductors 15 ... 18 integrated within its wall for which contacts are carried by the connector units in insulating blocks 27. The hose is reinforced by a spiral wire 12 between the turns of which the conductors are spirally arranged. The units 8, 9 comprise split hollow bodies accommodating tubes 21 secured to the ends of the hose, the tube on the plug unit having a plug portion carrying a spring-ring which snaps into a socket portion in the tube on a socket unit. The contacts for conductors 15, 16, Fig. 5, comprise a headed pin 30 surrounded by a sleeve 32 which cooperate with a spring blade 34 and surrounding sleeve 33 respectively, whilst the contacts for conductors 17, 18, Fig. 6, comprise complementary pins 28 and sockets 29.
