688,433. Electrostatic precipitation. OFFICE NATIONAL D'ETUDES & DE RECHERCHES AERONAUTIQUES, O. N. E. R. A., and CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE, C.R.N.S. Feb. 6, 1951 [Feb. 7, 1950], No. 2953/51. Class 39(i) [Also in Group XXIX] A spraying apparatus which may be used for dissipating fogs, purifying an atmosphere containing coal dust &c. comprises a conduit 1 from which liquid is atomised by pressure gas from a surrounding nozzle 2, and the spray is electrically charged by connecting a direct high voltage between the nozzle 2 and conduit 1, and a circular electrode 3. A set of such conduits and electrodes, Fig. 2, may be spaced: along concentric pipes fed with liquid and gas, the electrodes being supported by a pair of rods 8, and the set carried on an aircraft or on a land vehicle. The liquid may be water and may include calcium or sodium chloride, or a wetting agent such as succinic acid.
