688,250. Scaper bowls. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. June 15, 1951, No. 14272/51. Class 68(i) In an earth-moving bowl-type scraper, the apron 28 and the ejector 32 are moved in timed relation by a single fluid actuated piston-cylinder assembly 46, 48 mounted on the rear wheel structure. The pivoted arms 29 of the apron are connected by links 71, 67 tc a shaft 66 rotatably mounted in the side plates 11 of the bowl, said shaft being rotated on movement of an arm connected thereto as a roller 62 mounted on said arm follows the profile of a cam bar 57 pivotally connected to a piston rod 47 and at the other end sliding over a roller 58 mounted in a housing 38 forming part of the rear structure of the ejector. Forward movement of the piston results in forward movement of the cam bar and as it moves past the roller 62 the apron is opened and is maintained open by the rearward portion of the bar when the piston rod abuts against and urges forward the ejector. Rearward movement of the piston rod causes a corresponding movement of the bar, lowering of the apron, and, on the stop 73 on said bar abutting against the housing 38, rearward movement of the ejector.
