Abstract

681,320. Awnings for seats. EVANS, A. C., and POTTEN, C. H. July 16, 1951 [July 17, 1950; Feb. 12, 1951], Nos. 17811/50 and 3362/51. Class 52(ii) [Also in Group XVII] A bag which when empty can be fitted upon a deck chair to serve as an awning therefor has a flexible body 1 in which is fitted a U-shaped wire frame with the bridge portion 2 along the bottom of the bag and limbs 3 emerging from the bag and having hooked end portions 4 projecting above it. Brackets 5 are swivel mounted on the limbs 3 and have ends 6 of bifurcated form. To erect the awning the brackets 5 are slid up the limbs 5 so that the downturned ends of the hooks 4 can enter holes 7 and the bifurcations or clips 6 may then be engaged over the rail 8 of a deck chair. In modifications the brackets 5 are assembled between nuts and washers screwed on to threaded ends of the limbs 3, or they are attached to pivot pins on the limbs.
