Class 102 (i) [Also in Group XXIX] A pumping installation comprises a pressuregenerator in communication with two ducts for fluid connected to a distributer for creating an alternating pressure on one face of a diaphragm, the other face of which is a working surface. Fluid is drawn by a pump 2 through the duct 3 and distributer 6 from the space 9, drawing the diaphragm 8 to the position 8<SP>1</SP> in which it causes a flow of fluid past a valve 12 into the compartment 10. Fluid is then supplied by the pump 2 through the duct 4 and distributer 6 to the compartment 9 to force the diaphragm to the position 8" and thus expel the fluid in compartment 10 past the valve 11. The two compartments may be separated by two diaphragms which are themselves separated by a space accommodating a liquid which may be examined through a window. A number of diaphragm systems, each with its own distributer, may be connected in parallel between the suction and pressure ducts. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 a container 26, at the end of a duct 26', has mounted thereon a centrifugal pump 27 driven by a motor 28 which also drives a rotary distributer 29 which sends the liquid, drawn in by the pump 27, into the compartments 30 of a series of diaphragm systems 31 surrounding the distributer. The diaphragm systems are connected by a circular duct 32 for drawing in the fluid to be conveyed and by a duct 33 for expelling this fluid.
