Abstract
Folic acid is recovered from the crude product obtained by synthesis according to known processes by precipitating folic acid from an aqueous alkaline solution of the crude product at a temperature not exceeding 50 DEG C. and at a pH value of at most 1, with sulphuric or hydrochloric acid. The precipitation may be carried out at room temperature. Prior to the precipitation of the folic acid, barium chloride equivalent to the amount of caustic soda solution may be added to a solution of the crude product in caustic soda. Three examples are given.
