Abstract
678,526. A.C. motors. BRITISH VACUUM CLEANER & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd,. WRIGHT, R. D. H., and DELGADO, P. E. Dec. 15, 1950 [Jan. 13, 1950], No. 933/50. Class 35. To facilitate starting of a synchronous motor the magnetized rotor pole-pieces 7 are attracted to a position between the stator pole-pieces 4, 5 when the motor is stopped by providing a fixed plate 9 with bent lugs 12. The latter extend axially in the air gap between the rotor and stator so as to give the maximum magnetic effect between the rotor and the positioning plate 9. Alternatively, the positioning device may be arranged to provide a magnetic bridge between any two rotor poles of opposite polarity.
